Hearts of Oak New Coach Opens up on Selection

Deputy coach of Hearts of Oak, David Ocloo has defended his selection in their 1-0 win over AS Real Bamako.

The Phobians posted a 1-0 win over the Malian club in the second leg but exited the CAF Confederation Cup after a 3-0 loss in the first leg gave ASR Bamako a 3-1 aggregate victory.

Coach Ocloo has been questioned by some fans over the change in selection where Mohammed Alhassan and Dennis Korsah were benched.

The former Asante Kotoko coach says he selects players on merit.

“I’m with them at training grounds and I select players on merit.

“What you put up there at training is what will make me select you for the game.

“And on the day, I think these players brilliantly.

“You can’t tell me they did not play well, they played well.” David Ocloo told Radio Gold Sports.

The Phobians have made a poor start to their Ghana Premier League campaign - claiming just two points from three opening games.

The poor start led to the departure of coach Samuel Boadu who guided them to a league title, two FA Cup a Super Cup and a President’s Cup in two-and-a-half seasons.
