We Were Surprised by Legon Cities FC Performance - Lawrence Agyekum

West Africa Football Academy’s young midfielder, Lawrence Agyekum says they were shocked by the performance Legon Cities FC in their match week four clash.

The Academy Boys’ quest to win their first game of the season was pegged back twice by the Royals in Sogakope on Sunday in week four. WAFA shot their noses in front courtesy Lawrence Agyekum with four minutes of time played. Legon Cities will however not waste much time by restoring parity three minutes after WAFA’s opener from Abdul Rahman. WAFA restored their lead before half time through striker, Justus Torsutsey who headed in Sampson Agyapong's free-kick.

The Academy Boys who finished third last season, let off their lead with Legon Cities FC drawing level once again from the boot of Asamoah Boateng Afriyie. Lawrence Agyekum, who is just 18-years was left shocked at the performance exhibited by Legon Cities. ”It was a good game. We played very well today unlike the other games where we struggled to pitch passes and get to our tempo, we did well to keep possessions than our opponents. “They surprised us with how they played today, we didn’t expect them to give us a run like this but all we got was a draw which we intend to build on although am a little disappointed,” he told Saharafootball.net

WAFA started the 2021/22 league season very poorly after losing 1-0 to King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium before managing to hold defending champions, Hearts of Oak to a 1-1 draw in Sogakope in week two. Week proved proved a painful moment with a 2-0 loss to Premier League returnees, Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium. WAFA will have another task in their hands against high flying Great Olympics at home in week five.
