Samuel Boadu Drops Key Star For Wydad Athletic Club Encounter

Congolese left back, Raddy Ovouka has been benched for the all important reverse fixture of the second preliminary 2021/22 CAF Champions League clash against Wydad Athletic Club.

The left back, prior to the first leg clash at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday, was injured and managed to feature in the slim victory for the Phobians but just for 20 minutes. He was replaced by former Liberty Professionals left back, William Denkyi who did not disappoint in the game.

Head coach of Hearts of Oak Samuel Boadu has rang two changes to his team as he names a strong starting line up to face Moroccan club, Wydad Athletic Club in the second preliminary stage, second leg tie at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca this evening. Coach Samuel Boadu made two changes to the squad that played in the first leg against Wydad Athletic Club at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday. Former Liberty Professionals left back William Dankyi has replaced the injured Congolese defender, Raddy Ovouka while experienced and former West Africa Football Academy and ADUANA Stars player, Caleb Amankwah replaces Frederick Ansah Botchway to partner Emmanuel Nettey for two defensive midfielders.

Coach Samuel Boadu retains Goalkeeper Richard Attah in number position as Fatawu Mohammed and William Denkyi occupying the right-back and left-back roles respectively. Officiating Officials to handle the game are from Gabon. The Center Referee is Eric Arnaud Otogo Castane from Gabon and he will be assisted by fellow countrymen, Assistant I Urbain Ondo Ndong with Assistant II being Felix Abaa Eyaga. The 4th Referee is Isidore Essono nze Nze from Gabon and the Match Commissioner is Mohamed Abdatt Bilal from Mauritania. The Referee Assessor is Abdel Hamid Radwan from Egypt.

Hearts of Oak managed a slim 1-0 victory against Wydad Athletic Club in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium. Isaac Mensah scored from a perfect assist from Salifu Ibrahim from the left side of the field with 41 minutes played in the first half. The Phobians face a tough task to win, draw or avoid defeat in order to book a place in the group stage of the CAF Champions League which they won in the year 2000.
