The blue logo app, Facebook, according to reports is set to change its name, in what will be know as a massive rebrand of the company, since it was first established in 2004 by current CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
The news of the imminent change of name have been reported by major tabloids in the world, citing a source with direct knowledge of the matter.
It is expected that the new name will be unveiled by the CEO, Mark Zuckerberg at the company's annual Connect Conference scheduled for 28 October or the name could be unveiled sooner than expected.
The move is part of Facebook's long term strategy to be seen as not just a social media company, but a force to reckon with in the tech industry, and a means of sending a strong signal to other tech giants like Google of their intent.
However, the impact of this change to users of the app is not know immediately, including whether there would be any change to the app's interface or use it not know.
Currently, Facebook owns, instant messaging app WhatsApp, Instagram, Oculus and many more popular apps.
