Ghana Card to become e-passport. This was announced by the Vice-president Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia during his recently held Seminar about how Digitization can drive the Ghanaian economy. This will allow all Ghanaian citizens, travelling FROM 197 countries in the world to travel back TO GHANA using the Ghanacard.
Essentially, instead of presenting their Ghanaian passports, they can choose to present their Ghanacard at the port of embarkation.he Ghanacard, being used as e-passport, will also allow Ghanaians with dual citizenship using foreign passports, to travel back to Ghana with their Ghana card, without requiring a visa, as is the situation now in most cases
Just like full Ghanaian citizens, dual Ghanaian citizens will have to present their Ghanacard at the port of embarkation from any of the 197 countries, and they will travel to Ghana without requiring a visa in their foreign passports.
Currently , the Ghanacard can be used to travel across West African countries. The Ghana card e-passport will not be for foreign visa acquisition, but an alternative e-passport for Ghanaian citizens and dual Ghanaian citizens, which they will use to travel back to Ghana from 197 countries in the world.
