Phase 2 Of Tamale Airport Complete - Regional Minister

Northern Regional Minister calls for cordiality between Police, Public - GhanaToday

The Tamale International Airport's Phase II construction is complete and ready for commissioning.

Alhaji Shanai Alhassan Shaibu, the Northern Regional Minister, made this know at a meeting with the media held at the Ministry of Information.

The project's second phase, which started in March 2022, is estimated to cost $70 million.

The Minister expressed his confidence that many locals will have employment opportunities as the predicted growth in the Region's financial growth.

“The economic importance of the airport cannot be overemphasized. Suffice to say, there is a serious potential for investors”, he said.

On August 15, 2019, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cut the first sod for  the planned construction projects.

The President claims that the development of a cutting-edge terminal building, a multipurpose Hajj facility, and other auxiliary facilities will bring about the required commercial and trading activity.

The Tamale International Airport will supplement Accra Kotoka International Airport's services.

The facility has been finished after several months of construction, and the President will soon commission it.

The new Tamale International Airport has a modular terminal building with a floor area of about 5,000 square meters, a Hajj facility, a one-car access road, and the infrastructure for water, power, and sewage systems deemed necessary for regular operations.

The sector minister responded to detractors of the government's 1-Village-1-Dam project by explaining that the roughly 5 dams built in the Northern Region had benefited farmers, especially during the dry season.

In providing a report on roads, the Minister noted right away that 353.79 kilometers of road projects are now being worked on, with roughly 60% of them nearing major completion.
