The death of a middle-aged male traveler at the Kotoka International Airport has been verified by the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) (KIA).
According to GACL, the person landed on United Airlines from Dulles International Airport in Washington on Friday, June 17, 2022.According to GACL, the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. in the company of a relative, and the passenger complained of being tired and having difficulty breathing.
"The Ground Handler then offered him a wheelchair," the complaint said in part, "but he became unconscious in the arrival hall and received medical assistance but was unresponsive."
He was taken to the airport clinic for further treatment, according to the statement, and he later died.
"In accordance with protocol, the Airport District Police Station was notified promptly," it said.
Meanwhile, the company says it has launched an investigation into the occurrence, and management expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.
