Fire Nearly Engulfed KLM Flight at KIA

An unexpected incident happened few minutes to midnight on Friday, September 3 at Kotoka International Airport (KIA). The passengers were stranded and in fear because their lives could have been wasted if safety measures were not taken to save them from the incident.

The incident was a KLM flight which was scheduled to take off from Accra to Amsterdam in London, faced an unexpected problem when it was about to take off from the land into the air at Kotoka International Airport.

When the plane was about to take off from Accra, a bird was found in the engine which could have sparked into fire if the pilot push a little effort. The tyres of the plane were deflated due to the bird strike but efforts were made to replace the tyres back while the passengers were still on board.

The flight was cancelled and the passengers were moved into a hotel to spend the nights whiles the engineers work to fix the plane.
