African politicians use various tactics to avoid being audited due to the shady deals and corrupt practices they indulge in.
Many could remember through historical knowledge how the streets of numerous African countries were filled with joyous people celebrating their freedom from colonial rule but today, you could barely see people celebrating this freedom after several years. Can we blame this on our erstwhile colonial rulers or on the incompetence of the political elite who didn't help matters?
Gone are the days when the mere sight of men in uniform sends shivers down the spine of civilians and the military had the power to command respect from anyone. You dare not talk back at a soldier or refuse an order but today, it seems the fear and honor accorded to the military seems to be diminishing either as a result of the practice of democracy or the firm believe in human rights.

Recently, Ghanaian President, Nana Addo stirred a major controversy on the Guinea coup that ousted Prof. Alpha Conde as the President of the West African country. According to the Ghanaian leader, member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) do not have the capacity to stop member countries from changing their constitutions to increase the term of office of a sitting President.

To stage a protest is a constitutional right granted to citizens of country to register their displeasure about issues and sometimes submit proposals or letters of recommendation to the relevant authorities to address their grievances. It requires that a prior notification is given to the security agency who will in turn deploy personnel to assist in this action.
Wednesday, 6th October 2021 The new president of Guinea, Col. Mamady Doumbouya is set to visit Ghana, first time after he truncated the government of former President Alpha Conde. This will be his first official international travel since he was sworn in last week. According to a report published by eyeofmalawi.com intercepted by CitizenOne, the interim president is billed to meet Ghanaian president Nana Akuffo Addo who doubles as ECOWAS chairman.
In Africa, constitution is a political tool that is used by politicians, its seems it's only a politician who through a popular initiative can propose a constitution amendment. A good constitution allows for fair sharing of national resources and not the one where citizens depend on presidential donations.

Guinea, a West African country has in recent times been gained the focus of African Politics. The struggle is between deposed President and the newly appointed interim President. Special forces commander, colonel Mamady Doumbouya, is a prominent licensed officer of the School of War, has over fifteen years of military experience and training in rough terrains during operational missions in some war torn countries like Afghanistan, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Central African Republic and received additional training in close protection from Israel, Cyprus , United Kingdom and Guinea.
Martin Luther King once said "change does not roll on the wheels of inevitability but it comes through continues struggle and we must straightened our backs and work hard for our freedom. A man cannot ride you unless your back is bent." What transpired on that fateful September 5th, the coup against Alpha Conde clearly suggested that the members of the armed forces were not happy with the decision of one man to alter the Constitution and stay in power, hence change must come.
It seems the quality of leadership in Africa is a disrespect to this generation and it tells how past generations failed to nurture quality leaders to drive the African development agenda. Corruption and misuse of state funds by African Presidents has been the bane of this beautiful black continent.
It seems some African leaders forget so easily and still haven't learnt anything from history considering how despotic they become when they win political power. Former UN General Secretary, Kofi Annan once said "One must have a sense of history to know how to handle the future."
There was a president in Guinea who altered the Constitution and changed terms to suit himself. AU and ECOWAS never said anything but as soon the soldiers came, they are condemning the soldiers. Which constitutional rule should Guinea return to? The one that Alpha Conde has been manipulating?
A man of integrity is the one who abides with his words and acts upon it. Genuine leadership stems from being discipline and firm in action as well as listening to the masses and doing what they demand in accordance with the laws of the land. There is a saying that "the voice of the people is the voice of God" and Colonel Mamady Doumbouya has understood that the needs of the Guinean people is paramount, hence his decision to appoint a civilian to head the Prime ministerial position.

The millitary junta that overthrew the 83 year old president accused him of massive corruption among government officials and poor living conditions among the ordinary citizens.
