The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, in reading the 2022 budget statement in Parliament indicated that the government will construct two interchanges at the Ashanti region, one at the Kumasi airport roundabout and another at the Santasi roundabout. Hours after the interior minister imposed a 14-hour curfew on Bawku and surrounding communities, the people have had their fate compounded as they have been ordered not to wear the traditional smock within the environs of the troubled town. The smock or the Batakari is adorned by the people of the North on special occasions especially during festivals but unscrupulous people within the Upper East town, which has gained notoriety for its protracted inter-ethnic conflict, have devised means to hide weapons and to wear the smock over them in order to attack their opponent and innocent civilians.
