The much talked anticipated Common Core Programme for junior high schools will soon be implemented by teachers, as preparations are underway and almost near completion. The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has revealed the Common Core Programme to be used by junior high schools nationwide will be implemented in the next academic year (i.e., 202).
The Curriculum for the basic schools was reviewed by National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), basic schools were instructed to use the Common Core Program Curriculum from the beginning of the 2020 academic year. The reviewed is to respond to the national priority of shifting the structure and content of the educational system from merely passing examinations to building character, nurturing values, and raising literate, confident and engaged citizens, with emphasis on science and mathematics as building blocks for success in either tertiary education or early entry in the workplace.
THE COMMON CORE PROGRAM. The New Common Core Program (CCP) is a continuation of the KG to Basic 6 curriculum introduced which was introduced in 1st September 2019. As a matter of fact, the CCP curriculum is a carefully designed programme containing nine subjects for learners in Basic 7 to Basic 10 (JHS 1 – SHS 1) as part of learning experiences to prepare them for their future carriers as their world of work.
Is CCP training for all JHS teachers which was postponed has now been rescheduled. This workshop is going to strengthened our basic education structure. We have already heard that JHS will be returning to school on 18th January and on semester basis. This training is going to also empower the teachers about new methodologies to teach our younger ones. It is now set on 11th January , 2021 that is Monday coming. The Duration for the said exercise was 8 days but it has now been shortened to 5 days( Monday to Friday).
