The Controller And Accountant General's Department (CAGD) has reaffirmed its decision to go by the December 1, 2021, deadline for public sector employees who receive salaries from the Department to register for the Ghana card else forfeit their salary by December this year. Although Controller has come under numerous backlashes from labour unions like GNAT, NAGRAT and CCT-GH, the department seems unperturbed at all.

'Stiff-necked' Controller and Accountant General not ready to rescind decision on Ghana Card

The office of the Controller and Accountant General's Department (CAGD) has come up to defend its decision on the No Ghana Card, No Salary coming December 2021. This was emphatically stated by the Public Relations Officer at the CAGD, Mr. Cephas Narh Dosso in an interview in Accra when he was called upon to answer some questions about the decision and why they decided to give such a limited time to all government officials.

We cannot withdraw ‘no Ghana card, no salary’ directive – CAGD

The Controller and Accountant-General's Department (CAGD) has said that it can't pull out its mandate asking public area representatives who don't have the Ghana Card to secure one by December 1, 2021 or relinquish their pay rates. There have been fomentations by a segment of government laborers and their associations since the Department gave the mandate on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 with some requesting that the CAGD rethink the order and pull out it totally or broaden the cutoff time.
