Due to the tragic events that occurred on January 20, 2022, Honourable Samuel Abu Jinapor decides to direct the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the minerals commission to stop the chief inspector of mines and suspend the registration of Maxam company limited with the minerals commission until the investigations into the tragic events are over.

The Damongo Police Command in the West Gonja Municipal of the Savannah Region has intercepted a Sprinter Bus carrying suspected foreigners from neighbouring Togo. The bus with registration number AS-9399-12 was intercepted at the Busunu barrier in the evening hours of Monday January 10. The bus was carrying about 30 passengers believed to be citizens of Togo.
Some State Department and Agencies in the North Gonja District of the Savanna Region which hitherto did not have office and accommodation facilities to enable the effective discharge of their mandate will now heave a sigh of relief as the challenge has now been resolved following the provision of such facilities.
The District Chief Executive for North Gonja, Hon. Adam Eliasu, has handed over office spaces to three (3) institutions and one accommodation facility making a total of four to enhance administrative and social/physical development. The handing over ceremony was done on Friday, January 14th, 2022 at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region. The state institutions include; The District Health Insurance Scheme, District Agriculture Department, the Rural Enterprise Agency and the Ghana Police Service.
The Damongo constituency chairman and his officers have been attacked by armed robbers on the Damongo Kotito Highway. Fortunately, the attack was foiled by the Damongo police after a fierce fire exchange between the robbers and the police. Confirming the incident on radio, the Damongo Divisional police command briefed the media that the robbers are aged 17, 15 and 20. By law, they have been processed for the court pending trial.
