A three-member gang of highway robbers, carrying AK47 assault rifles and machetes, has attacked passengers on a Mercedes Splinter commercial bus, traveling on the Kugri – Avorsum road in the Garu District of the Upper East Region, killing one person and injuring many others. These bad guys conducted thorough body search on the travelers, seizing everything on them, their cash, mobile phones and other valuables.

Renewed ethnic disturbances, police arrest five persons

The security agencies have acted swiftly and decisively to tackle the threat to security in the Bawku municipality by arresting five people, believed to be linked to the latest disturbances in the area. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) David Fianko-Okyere, Head of Public Affairs of the Upper East Regional Police Command, confirming the arrest, said the five had been interrogated and would be put before court.

A woman has been ran over by a gas tanker in Bolgatanga. The gas tanker with the registration number, GT 8243-20 killed the woman and her baby in the early hours of Friday, 9th July 2021.
