The Atwima Mponua District Assembly in the Ashanti area, in partnership with the Small Scale Mining Taskforce, has burned around 70 pieces of fan equipment as part of attempts to prevent illegal mining activity on the Offin River. Over the weekend, the Taskforce from Accra and the District Assembly attacked the villages of Abompe, Beposo, Abesua, and Agogoso to apprehend illicit miners (galamseyers).
