Until the southern portion of the district was split off to create Ningo-Prampram District on June 28, 2012, it was a part of the larger Dangme West District, which was formed in 1988 from the former Dangme District Council.

On Thursday, a Federal High Court in Lagos State, Nigeria, sentenced 20 Ghanaian fishermen to one year in prison each for transporting 13.670 kilograms of marijuana, also known as cannabis, from Ghana to Nigeria.  According to the Punch, Justice Nicholas Oweibo convicted and sentenced them after finding them guilty of conspiracy and illegal drug transportation.

20 Ghanaian fishermen were each given a one-year prison term by a Federal High Court in Lagos State of Nigeria on yesterday for bringing 13.670 kilograms of marijuana, also known as cannabis, from Ghana to Nigeria. According to news reports from earlier today, Justice Nicholas Oweibo found them guilty of the charges of conspiracy and unlawful transportation of the drug and sentenced them.

A Ghanaian man has been detained in the US for his alleged involvement in a $5 million romance fraud conspiracy. Kenneth Anim may be sentenced to up to 20 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $500,000. According to the US Department of Justice, the suspect and his accomplices set up fictitious companies through which money was laundered.
