The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has asked for calm as it implements measures to address the Cedi's decline versus major trading currencies, particularly the US dollar. The central bank has identified five major reasons for the local currency's troubles. These are "the strength of the US dollar, investor reaction to credit rating downgrade, non-rollover of maturing bonds, the sudden rise in crude oil prices and its impact on the Oil Bill, and the loss of external financing."
