Legon Clashes: Vehicle Burnt, Soldiers Called For Reinforcement [Video]

Around midnight of Friday 5th August 2022, some students of Commonwealth Hall and Mensah Sarbah hall clashed on the Legon campus. The fight quickly got serious and the security agencies were called in to calm the situation. A car that is believed to belong to one of the porters of Sarbah Hall was set ablaze.

A video is currently circulating on social media showing a hostel in Accra Technical University (A.T.U) on fire. According to the person who posted this video on social media, the fire outbreak started yesternight, 1st August 2022 around 11:00 pm. This incident happened on the 5th floor in Tudu hostel; one of the hostels belonging to the university.

Fire Service sacks 11 of its personnel for recruitment fraud

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has excused 11 of its staff for including themselves in demonstrations of indiscipline. These demonstrations included "vacation of post and enrollment fraud." The excused officials included two senior and nine junior officials. They were positioned across different local and area orders.

Some students clashed in front of the Legon Hall Annex ‘B’ Building at the University of Ghana yesterday evening. The reason why the clash occurred is not clear yet however the students were seen throwing stones and other materials at each other. The Ghana National Fire Service has noticed that, some individuals with bad Intentions or fraudsters have taken advantage of the recruitment processes to extort money or dupe people. Currently, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is undertaking a recruitment processes. The service has successfully completed the application process, the screening process; documents verifications, heights measurements and body selection and the examination process.

Fire Service trains three hundred fire volunteers in Upper West Region. The Upper West Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service ( GNFS ) has educated 300 hearth volunteers to assist fight fireplace in this 12 months's harmattan season which all started in November, 2021. At a passing-out rite to launch this 12 months's nearby bushfire prevention campaign at Issa inside the Daffiama / Bussie / Issa (DBI) District ultimate Tuesday, diverse equipment inclusive of Willington boots, jackets, and cutlasses donated by means of the German International Cooperation (GIZ ) were presented to the educated fire volunteers.

Kumasi Residents Disregard Danger; Rushed Towards Tanker To Siphon Fuel After Accident

Some residents of Kaase in Kumasi on Sunday afternoon attempted to siphon fuel from a fuel tanker that had overturned regardless of the danger it posed to them. People were seen running towards the tanker with their buckets in hand to fetch the fuel. Fire Service personnel who were informed of the incident around 5:00 pm, got to the scene and dispersed the crowd, before they started a process to offload the fuel into another truck to avert any unfortunate incident.
