Some leaders, who were involved in capturing power in the past, are today condemning the Guinean Coup. The fate of Guinea's President Alpha Condé is unclear after his recent overthrow. The soldiers behind the Sept. 5 coup have said they ousted President Conde because of concerns about poverty and corruption, and because he was serving a third term only after altering the constitution to permit it.
Colonel Mamady Doumbouya arrested the President of the Republic of Guinea, His Excellency Alpha Condé on Sunday, 5th September 2021 and took over the affairs of the country. This came as a surprise to the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS) because they didn't expect a close military associate of Alpha Condé to plot a coup against him.
