It is a sad day for residents living at Wassa Manso in the Mpohor District of the Western Region. The residents had the shock of their lives when two Haulage trains collided. All the two trains were heading towards Takoradi when the sad incident happened. District Chief Executive of Mpohor, Mr. Ignatius Asaah Mensah who confirmed the sad incident indicated that one of the haulage trains had parked in the community whilst the other was moving in the same direction on top speed.
It was not a happy scene when the Railway Development Minister, Mr. Peter Amewu arrived at the scene where the deadly haulage train accident happened. He was surprised when his engineers briefed him about the cause of the historic accident. After listening, he realized the accident could have been avoided with ease and that it was the negligence of some workers that caused it.
A caved Galamsey pit has been reported to claim six lives at Adum Banso at Mpohor in the Western Region. The men were believed to have been trapped and sadly suffocated to death in the pit. The District Chief Executive of the area, Mr. Ignatius Asaah Mensah, told newsmen that the six young men were trapped in an abandoned galamsey pit after they smuggled themselves to search for Gold.
