Ejura Committee Of Enquiry Report Is Out: Makes One Moot Recommendation As Simon Osei Is Not Touched
The gruesome murder of Macho Kaaka, an Ejura community social and political activist, resulted in a resultant youth-led demonstration and eventual murder of two persons, and the maiming of four persons, with one, having his legs amputated. The President then asked the Minister of Interior, to start a public enquiry and after sitting for an initial week and gaining an additional weeks extension, they brought their enquiry to a close, days back.
In his final remark to a questioned posed him by the Justice Koomson’s committee on the Ejura Killings, brother of Ibrahim Mohammed Kaaka, said Allah shall bear witness to his testimony about the knowledge he has about the Ejura riot. Named Abdul Nasiru, his testimony on the provocation the youth of Ejura visited on the military could be questioned due to the inconsistencies in his utterances before the committee yesterday.
The committee established to investigate the Ejura violence has presented its report to the Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, Chaired by Justice Koomson, the committee handed over the report to the minister at a brief ceremony. In a statement, Justice Koomson assured the minister that the committee attached serious importance to the task assigned to them.
Ghana was brought to a standstill after news spread like wildfire after the killing of social media activist Kaaka and two others after the later met their untimely death during the Ejura Youth demonstration against the killing of Kaaka. As it always has been the norm, Committee was set up to investigate the killing of the Ejura 3.
Two strong testimonies have been heard today at the Justice Koomson’s Committee of Public Enquiry into Ejura Killings. The accounts were too strong and convincing that any counter claim could hardly be raised against it. The committee were even overwhelmed with the testimonies as they had to a point in time advice that they hold onto some information for the Police so it can assist their investigations.

This assertion comes after it has been reported that, the Justice Koomson committee, the committee that was tasked by the President, through the interior Ministry to probe the incidents to led to the killing and Military shootings of some protesters at Ejura-Sekyeredumase in the Ashaniti region has made some recommendations in their report.
