The Western Region Director for the Food and Drugs Authority, Mr. Abu Sumaila is cautioning the general public to stop the consumption of ‘Kako’ a special salted fish in the market of Ghana.
“Kako” as the name implies is a common Ghanaian traditional salted fish made from sharks. It is made from certain parts of sharks such as the fins which is salted and dried thoroughly in the sun. Some people dislike this wonderful part of sharks due to the presence of too much salt content but this can be reduced by boiling it in water. “Kako” is mostly used in the preparation of stews and soups.
