The rain that started around 1:30 p.m. from the southernmost parts of the Volta region, reached Accra around 6.30 p.m. and lasted until the early hours of Sunday [22. May 2022]. Flood prone areas such as Odawna, Abossey Okai, Kaneshie, Agbogbloshie and the Nungua barrier in Accra were inundated and many residents struggled to find places to sleep.

Some parts of Accra have been flooded again, leading to workplaces and schools badly affected after heavy downpour as Ghana Metrological Agency warned such torrential rains within the season. The rain started exactly 4:00am and lasted for 4 hours, following Kwame Nkrumah Cycle, Kaneshie, Sheshie, Dankuman, Odona Achimota and many places affected by the flood within the capital.
