Breaking: Latest national rankings of MMDAs released. Nkoranza North placed 1st (full list)

The Ministry of Local government and rural development has released its latest Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies performance ranking this afternoon. The annual performance Index saw Nkoranza North District in the Bono East region picking the first position while Zabzugu district in the Northern region came last for the year under review.

Tuesday, 5th October 2021 Information just in is that the president's nominee for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Mr. Samuel Pyne has been confirmed as substantive Metropolitan Chief Executive. According to TV3's Evans Nkum, the nominee polled 55 votes out of the total 58 to secure his position.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive nominee for Kumasi, Samuel Kwabena Pyne, was confirmed with 55 yes votes out of a potential 58.The President's nominee was approved by government appointees and Assembly members in Kumasi on Tuesday afternoon. President Akufo-Addo had earlier encouraged the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to reconsider its decision to reject Sam Pyne, his nominee for the MCE position.His remark comes after assembly members stated that "no one will occupy the Kumasi Mayor office" unless the government repays the assembly's $50 million debt.

Two persons in the Ashanti Region have been arrested by the Police in region for their alleged involvement in the sale of unwholesome chicken.
