Mariam, an 8 years old girl was taken to the Koforidua Central Hospital by her mother, Regina Sefa, but because she was unable to pay her bills GHS 1800, she was refused further medication.

The President on Tuesday, August 17 inaugurated the building of some 111 District hospitals throughout the country. Funding for the projects, according to Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah had been secured through the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund. The Minister told the media that the administration had secured $100million for the project and re-reiterated: “Currently, commencing funding of $100 million has been made available for the project through the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund”.
