The impasse in Parliament is growing as the majority and Minority groups in Parliament continues to debate over the procedures leading to the approval of the budget. The stalemate came after the majority group led by Honourable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu approved the 2022 fiscal year budget in the absence of the NDC MPs after it was initially declared rejected by the speaker of Parliament.
Parliament is still divided between accepting or rejecting the 2022 budget. On Friday, the Minority leader in the absence of the Majority rejected the proposed 2022 Budget by a vote of 137-0. In a sharp reversal, the Majority side also in with the absence of the Minority rescinded the earlier decision and approved the budget.
The Minority in Parliament is upset by the decision of the First Deputy Speaker, Joe Osei Owusu after he included himself in the total number of Members of Parliament (MPs) in the House before having the motion for the rescission of the rejection of the 2022 Budget moved.
The Minority moved a motion for the decision made by the Majority to approve the 2022 "Agenkwa" Budget Statement which they [Minority] rejected to be rescinded by the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Joesph Osei-Owusu. However, the First Deputy Speaker who is also the Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency dismissed the motion moved by the Minority.

The budget was approved by a one-sided House made up of only the Majority after the Minority boycotted yesterday's Parliamentary sitting.
