For close to two decades, the people of Bawku in the Upper East region have seen some amount of peace from the long standing conflict between the Mamprusis and Kusasis. In the early to late 90s, these two major tribes did not see eye to eye. However, tensions are currently rising in the area following the shooting of a young man who was identified as a 20 year old tricycle (Mahama Can Do) rider, Mohammed Mahmood.
The kusaal language is spoken by the indigenous people of Bawku municipality in the upper east region of Ghana. The people are mainly know by their culture. Bawku is a War zone.Bawku peace dialogue with the heads of security and ministers was great, Ministery of interior and defense, the IGP and Chief of defense staff -CDS led the delegation . Took off from the airforce base Accra by 7am landed in Tamale military Airforce base around 8:20am went straight into waiting military helicopter for another 1hr flight in the noisy chopper landing at the 11th Mechanize Battalion military camp in Bawku around 10am.
Kusasi Bandits Shoot 3 Military Men At Their Enclave Baribari -Buabula Area In Bawku Kusasi bandits have shot and injured 3 military officers who were on patrol in the middle of the night at the Kusasi enclave of Baribare-Buabula. One soldier is said to be critically injured. The 3 soldiers have since been given first aid care at the Bawku Hospital and have been moved for airlifiting to the 37 military hospital.
