Seven persons including a baby have lost their lives through accidents today in the Central region. The first which took the lives of five persons occurred at Domenase. A taxi with these five passengers was moving from Mankessim to a village called Tiako. The road is newly constructed so drivers plying that road drive at top speed.
Confirming to the police, Ibrahim Somiala, a 34-year-old shoe seller that witnessed the accident yesterday evening, confirmed that, the rider of the Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle could have slowed down, and that could have prevented the accident but he didn't and crashed into his death at the Spintex Coca-Cola junction.
Road accidents continue to be a canker in Ghana. The lives that road accidents have taken only in the year 2021 is over two thousand. Many others have been injured whilst some of the accidents happened without being reported officially. The traders at the Trede Junction in Sabin Akrofrom are appealing to the President and Ministry of Roads and Highways to give them two months to take their containers from the road side.
