There is so much controversy about the ongoing MMDCE nominations. What was expected to be a smooth process is gradually hitting a snag in a number of areas. Whereas many areas have seen unanimous approvals, other places have seen rejections. Currently trending is the brouhaha about the Juaben MCE rejection and his demand for monies that he paid to certain people to vote for him.
The president of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, some weeks ago brought out the names of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE's) for the assembly members in every constituency to vote for those who have been appointed before thier constituency. Some of these MMDCE's have been voted one hundred percent (100%) but others too are being rejected by the assembly members in their constituencies which is making some people feel bad.

The man nominated to serve in the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo-Ano South East is going to have it tough. Following the announcement of the Chief Executive nominees for the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies by the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Hon Dan Botwe, indicated that the various regional ministers are expected to expedite the process of confirmation. He said that the an instruction had been giving to the regional ministers to see to it that the confirmation of the MMDCE nominees for the various MMDAs does not delay any further.
The MMDCE nominations were announced last Sunday in a press briefing by Hon Dan Botwe, Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development and Hon Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Information. Prior to the announcement, a group of youth in the Odododiodioo Constituency had already taken to the street in protest against the purported nomination of Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister, Elizabeth Sackey, to replace Mohammed Nii Adjei Sowah as the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA)
The nominees for the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly Chief Executive position was announced last Sunday by the Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Hon Dan Botwe and the Minister of Information, Hon Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in a joint press briefing. The process of getting these various individuals sworn into office commences with their nomination by the President and ends with the confirmation by a two- third majority of members present and voting at the various assemblies.
