It's Not True That 44,000 Teachers Quit Teaching In 2021 – MoE PRO

Mr. Kwasi Kwarteng, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Education (MoE) has described as misleading and untrue a report by Africa Education Watch that some 44,000 teachers in the 2021 academic year alone quit teaching in the country. The Education Think Tank – EduWatch in its new year message quoted a provisional date from EMIS said some 44,000 (over 15%) teachers left basic schools in 2021 with no replacement.

MoE Clears The Air On Scrapping Teacher & Nursing Trainees Allowance

The public relations officer of the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng has refuted claims by a section of the public that students loan is replacing nursing and teacher trainees allowance. Mr. Kwarteng posted on his Facebook handle that such news is false and not backed by facts. This was after a publication was posted on social media platforms that the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum said his outfit is not scraping the allowance off rather, substituting it with students loan which debtors will pay after gradation when they are gainfully employed.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) mid-January or late February this year is expected to be given financial clearance for the Ghana Education Service (GES) to recruit graduates teachers, the Spokes person of the Ministry of Education revealed on his official Facebook page. The Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD), is currently processing the payment of teacher trainees allowance, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Education (MoE) Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Kwarteng has disclosed.
