Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have been given the green light to register midfielder Richmond Lamptey following a ban by the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association. Confirming the news on their social media page, Asante Kotoko explained that their legal representative has been served a ruling by Court of Arbitration for Sports granting a stay of execution for the player to be registered.
The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has freed Asante Kotoko's stylish midfielder Richmond Lamptey, through an effort made by Brazilian lawyer, Nilo Effori, the highest football legal decision body has removed the 30-month ban placed on him. Richmond Lamptey will be eligible to represent the team as a registered player in the Ghana Premier League, the CAF Champions League, and all upcoming football matches, he was part of the twenty-one players who were banned by the Ghana Football Association following the outcome of an investigation into the game between Ashanti Gold vs Inter Allies match-fixing scandal in the 2020/21 season.
