Good news for teachers as the Ministry of Finance releases fund for the Payment of 2021 professional development allowance for professional and non professional teachers, the professional development allowance for the year 2021 will be reflected on the electronic payment voucher for validation for the month of November 2021.
According to statements made by the various teacher unions the payment of the 2021 Teachers’ Professional Development Allowance will take effect soon in November 2021. This was disclosed when NAGRAT and GNAT issued statements about the actual coast of the TM1 laptops. Teachers are urged to note that since the allowance is meant for building professional competencies, there is likely to be a case where every year the Ghana Education Service, Ministry of Education, and the teacher Unions will collaborate in aiding the 21st Century teacher to upgrade in terms of professionalism by using part of this allowance.
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has revealed that teachers who will be recruited after 2020/2021 batch will undergo Portfolio Development and Assessment when they are employed into the Ghana Education Service as teachers. In service teachers are however exempted from this assessment. In addition to that, teachers with provisional license will be recommended for recruitment by the NTC before they can be employed by GES into the various public schools in Ghana.
The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana says their attention has been drawn to messages and audio recordings circulating on social media platforms which seems to create fear and panic about the whole NTC Portfolio process of the newly trained teachers and that it's members should remain calm. In a statement on TTAG official Facebook page posted on Sunday 3rd October 2021, the Teacher Trainees Association said the portfolio assessment to be conducted by the National Teaching Council (NTC) has currently been suspended pending a new date for the process.
Ghana Education Service has put in place several interventions to improve the conditions of service for teachers and educational workers, workers in another sector of the economy have different forms of allowances which amount to half of their salary or more than their salary, teachers have no allowance they receive their raw basic salary at the end of the month.
The 2021 edition of the September teacher licensure examination (GTLE) scheduled to be administered on September 23 and 24, 2021 has been postponed, the National Teaching Council (NTC) said in their release that they are sorry for any inconveniences. The Teaching Council in a statement copied here said " the postponement of the conduct of the second phase of the 2021 Ghana teacher licensure examination is due to circumstances beyond their control".

Prospective Candidates for Teacher Lincense Examination to get Access to Question Bank on NTC Portal
I National Teaching Council (NTC) has set up a question bank on their portal for prospective teachers to practice over a thousand sample questions to prepare themselves adequately for the licensure examination, this is as a result of the massive failure rate. The minister of education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum called on the National Teaching Council, to make available sample questions and past questions on their website to enable prospective candidates to get access to the kind of questions they are expected to write.
The 2021 version of the Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP) will be held in Sunyani, the Capital of the Bono Region, the Registrar of the National Teaching Council (NTC), Dr Christian Addai Poku explained on Monday.
