Death has once again stretched its ugly neck on the Asankragwa Nursing and midwifery training college. Two young students who have gone through the academic calendar with a few days to complete their educations have met their untimely deaths. The students, who are two in number had gone to the Asankragwa Township in the Amenfi West District of the Western Region.
The Asankrangwa Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service is pursuing leads for the arrest of a grader driver whose recklessness had cost the lives of two people. Four others are reported to have sustained varying degrees of injuries from an accident that was caused by this unidentified driver.

Two nursing students of Asankragwa Nursing College have lost their lives after they were crushed by a grader this dawn. The deceased are Priscilla Antwi Williams a level 300 student and Evelyn Coffie, a level 100 student. Evelyn was escorting Priscilla to her aunty's house to go for food.
News coming in from Joy News indicates that, two nursing trainees from the Asankragwa Midwifery and Training College by names Priscilla Antwi Williams and Ellen Kwoffie have met their untimely death on Saturday, 15th January, 2022. According to report, these nurses were up to the market place to get themselves some food stuffs and also get their hair braided.

Student-Teachers and Nurses are divided over proposed cancellation of allowance for students, some of the students have welcomed, the consultations by the government to scrap the Teacher and Nursing Training allowance for the fund to be used to build clinics and schools to offer them employment after graduation, the proponents of the cancellation of the allowance believe that, they are equally students just as students in the Universities offering degree programs as such students do not receive any form of allowance, they can also be enrolled on the Student Loan Trust Fund, Increasing the fund for the Student Loan Trust Fund will be a good idea.

The public relations officer of the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng has refuted claims by a section of the public that students loan is replacing nursing and teacher trainees allowance. Mr. Kwarteng posted on his Facebook handle that such news is false and not backed by facts. This was after a publication was posted on social media platforms that the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum said his outfit is not scraping the allowance off rather, substituting it with students loan which debtors will pay after gradation when they are gainfully employed.

On the evening of Saturday, January 8, 2022, a family of six (6) was reported killed in a vehicle accident on the Kumasi-Nkawie-Sefwi road. A spouse, their mother-in-law, and three children were on their way home after a wedding when they were tragically killed.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) following claims the government in 2022 will cancel the nursing and teacher trainees allowance has urged members of the public to disregard publication as a false report. The Management of Ministry of Education has cleared the air concerning the purported cancellation of teacher and nursing trainees allowances.
The Government is currently making consultations with stakeholders to review Nurse and Teacher Trainees Allowances. The Nurse and Teacher Trainees Allowances is to be replaced with a student loan scheme. The review will cover teacher and nursing trainees in all tertiary institutions including private institutions when completed. After the consultations, this will eventually cancel and replace the current trainee allowances for teacher and nurse trainees with student loans payable after graduation.
