The first contest of the National Science and Maths quiz semi finals has ended with Prempeh College from the Ashanti Region beating Mfantsipim School and Abetifi Presby senior high school. They secured their spot in the finals while the wait for the next two schools. In an interview with Joy news, Prempeh College assured that they want Presbyterian Boys Senior High School from Accra and Opoku Ware from Ashanti Region at the finals to beat them back to back.

The contest was great as all the contestants from the various schools were willing to help their school win the trophy.

It was established in 1993 but the competition started in 1994 with Prempeh becoming the first school to win in that year.
