The entire community of Apieti in the Prestea Huni Valley District of the Western Region is currently in a sorry state. Almost every building in the community has been affected by a deadly explosion that occurred in the community a few hours ago. The vehicle containing the explosives is said to have collided with a tricycle causing the explosion which has since killed many innocent persons.

Blast Victim Dies Before He Could Be Airlifted To Korle-Bu
One of the critically injured victims of the Bogoso-Appiate blast, has died before he could be airlifted to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, the country’s largest referral facility. He was on admission at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital and the doctors had arranged to airlift him to Korle-Bu because of his bad condition.

Apiate Explosion: Fake Survivors Join Residence For Relief Items.
It has emerged that several individuals who are not the residence of Apiate, and were nowhere close to the scene when the explosion occurred, are joining the survivors in order to falsely benefit from the relief items being distributed. Some of these imposters are relatives of the survivors who have come to condole with them, but have taken the opportunity to join as fake victims.

Ghana Police Service Exposed: There Is No Functioning School At Apiatse
One of the touching stories from Apiatse after the deadly explosion was that the driver of the vehicle started running to the communities informing them to run for their lives. The Ghana Police Service led by IGP George Akuffo Dampare also revealed that there was a police escort in the explosive vehicle.

Friday, 26th November 2021 An eye witness at the Prestea Galamsey site accident has given a chilling account of how the victims died. It has been widely reported that on Wednesday night, an accident that occurred at a galamsey site at Wassa Essikuma claimed ten lives. The ten according to the Municipal Chief Executive of Prestea Huni-Valley municipality Dr. Isaac Dasmani were trapped in a collapsed pit.

I Was Saved By A Sachet Water: Man Narrates Ordeal After Mining Pit Killed 10 Of His Friends
The entire community of Wassa Essikuma in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region is in a state of mourning. The community members are currently at a loss on how some young men were trapped in a mining pit and died in the process. In all, fifteen persons were in the pit and nine died on the same day.

Appiatse community heard good news today
Municipal Chief Executive for Prestea Huni Valley Dr. Isaac Dasmani has given a strong indication that the assembly is working assiduously to ensure that reconstruction of the Appiatse community begins on May 1 as so promised by government. Mine accident, 10 killed, four others badly hurt
Wassa-Essikuma, a gold mining community in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality, has been hit by disaster as a mining pit collapses, killing 10 miners and leaving four others badly hurt. They were part of a group of illegal small-scale miners, who were digging for the mineral, when the pit collapsed, trapping them under tons of earth.

Bogoso Explosive Victims to Vacate to Nearby Towns for Safety

Government To Build Housing Units For Explosion Victims
The government has announced plans to help build housing units for people displaced by a blast that killed at least 17 and injured 59 others at Bogoso-Appiate, a farming/mining community in the Prestea-Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region. The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, said they had already been in touch with the State Housing Company, and they were also talking with the mining companies.

Families of miners killed in accident, plead for release of their bodies
The families of ten (10) small-scale miners killed in a mine accident at Wassa-Essikuma, a gold mining community in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality, are pleading with the authorities to release the bodies of their loved ones, being kept in the morgue at the Apinto Government Hospital, to them for burial.

Appiatse Explosion: Non-residents are posing as victims – NADMO
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) says a few non-inhabitants of Appiatse are "presenting" as casualties of last Thursday's blast to profit from alleviation things. The Organization said it had therefore set up a 17-Member Committee, comprised of six survivors who were indigenes of Appiatse to assist with planning the dispersion of help things to the survivors.
