The Electoral Commission must be notified by the Clerk of Parliament that the Dome Kwabenya constituency seat is vacant, according to Joseph Osei-Owusu, chairman of the Parliament's Privileges Committee. According to Mr. Osei-Owusu, this is the conclusion the committee came at after holding hearings on lawmakers who had missed more than 15 consecutive sessions of parliament.
The Privileges Committee of Parliament has expressed their feelings of disrespect toward the Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo. The Ranking member of the Committee, Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan recently revealed that the committee feels very disrespected by Sarah Adwoa Safo's failure to appear before them.
According to a press release issued by the Parliamentary Service and signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Kate Addo, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection failed to honour all invitations to appear before the Committee after the Speaker’s directive. The press release indicated that the failed attempts to reach her included an invitation letter to her office and her pigeonhole in Parliament, to the Ministry of Gender,Children and Social Protection where she superintended as sector minister, her official email addresses, known social media handles and through her Personal Assistant.
