Thugs numbering about 10, one of them, reportedly carried a pistol, forced their way into the radio station to beat up a presenter and vandalized broadcast equipment.

Radio Station Attack Should No Go Unpunished – Oppong Nkrumah

The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, is urging the police to go to every length to arrest the bully boys who raided a radio station at Ada, roughed up a presenter and vandalized broadcast equipment of the station. He has described the attack as totally unacceptable and says it should not go unpunished.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch in the Greater Accra Region has condemned the alleged attack on Radio Ada yesterday. The party says it is barbaric. Some masked, heavily-built men on Thursday morning attacked Radio Ada, a community radio station at Ada Foah in the Greater Accra Region, and ransacked its on-air studio without provocation.

The Ghana Police Service has announced that it has set aside a GHS10,000 reward for anyone who will provide information that would lead to the arrest of persons who attacked and vandalised Radio Ada. Some masked, heavily-built men on the morning of Thursday, January 13, 2022, attacked Radio Ada, a community radio station at Ada Foah in the Greater Accra Region, and ransacked its on-air studio without provocation.

On Thursday, January 2022, around 11:30 a.m., a group of eight guys allegedly attacked the radio station forcefully.

A local frequency modulation radio station, Radio Ada, has been forced to go off air following an invasion of its on-air studio by bully boys and subsequent roughing up of one of the presenters and vandalization of broadcast equipment. The thugs numbering about 10 are believed by the management of the radio station to have been hired by people, who are upset by the spotlight the station is putting on the Songor Lagoon.

Police place bounty on attackers of radio station

The Ghana police service has placed a ten thousand Ghana cedis (Gh10,000) on the head of of the attackers of Radio Ada at Big Ada which was vandalized a few days ago. According to press release dated 16th January,2022 and signed by the public affairs director of service,Supt Alex Kwaku Obeng, the service will reward anyone with credible information which will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the said action with the amount.
