In the first nine months of 2021, 2,126 people were killed in traffic accidents, as per MTTD.

According to preliminary data provided by the Ghana Police Service's (GPS) Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), the number of commuters died in road traffic crashes increased by 16.37 percent in the first nine months of 2021 compared to the same time last year.
