Two foreign nationals have been caught right in the act of filming the country’s military installation in Tumu, the capital of the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region - 10 Mechanized Infantry Battalion. The two, Zuregele Abdul Basit and Yaago Yashi, are from neighboring Burkina Faso.

A Procurement officer of the Sissala East Assembly in Tumu has been found dead almost decomposing today Friday 28th May 2021 evening Officials of the assembly named him as Mr Richard Oppong who is in his mid thirties and has been working in the area for the past three years.

Economic Activities in Parts of Upper West Region Blocked
The Kassana Bridge Located in the Sissala East Municipality have been washed away by heavy rains within the week, according to residents, this is the 2nd time in 2 years the development has occured, they stated that it happened twice in 2020 and twice in 2021 within the first quarter.

Some Maize farmers in a section of Sissala East Municipality have threatened not to supply maize to various markets in the Upper West Region and Ghana at large if their roads are not fixed. Expressing their displeasure with the neglect they face, some residents directed the blame to the Roads minister Mr. Amoako Atta and the Member of Parliament, Mr. Amidu Chinnia who has promised to assist in getting their concerns addressed, it can be recalled that the Sissala Enclave were left out during the award of farm road contracts favoring Wa West, Nadowli-Kaleo and other Municipal Districts such as Wa Central.

The differently abled association in Tumu have asked the Sissala East Municipal Assembly during a 2022 budget hearing to provide them with a resource center. The 1972-77 year group of the Now Kanton Senior High School in Tumu has handed over a new borehole to the school for use. The Ghana Meteorological Agency GMA said that absence of readily available rainfrainfall data from the Sissala East Municipality was affecting the timely release of weather information to the people in the Sissala East Municipality. This, the Agency GMA said, was due to the release of an active District Officer in the Sissala East Municipality to read and pick the weather information for accurate weather predictions for the area, which produces large volume of cereal for the country.
