U/W: 3 Districts Go on Demo over Farm Roads Snub in Upper West
Three Constituencies in Upper West Region have gone on demonstration and submitted a petition to the Upper West Regional Minister and Minister for Roads over what they termed as neglect of their districts, According to the group, the European Union Awarded a Farm Roads Contract worth 35million Euros in Upper West in Partnership with the Ministry of Road whilst Neglecting Three Constituencies including the Sissala West, Sissala East and Wa East Districts.

Electricity Meters, Borehole, Others Destroyed by Security Forces in Wa East
The chief and people of Manwe traditional area in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region have expressed their displeasure over the actions of the joint security forces that invade the Manwe community on Thursday. The forces destroyed some properties that are said to belong to some residents who were suspected to be illegal miners.

Doctor Reveals Challenges Facing Agriculture in The North of Ghana
Hon. Dr. Suleman Ewurah Kandia Mahama, The District Chief Executive for Wa East District Assembly of the Upper West Region, , has described poor road network, and other human activities as serious impediments that hinder the toils and efforts of actors in the agricultural sector. Wa East DCE Begins two 1V1D Projects
Dr. Ewurah Suleman Kandia Mahama, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Wa East District Assembly, has cut sod for the construction of two irrigation dams at Gilang and Tuasa which are predominantly farming communities in the District. Some farmers in Kpalworgu in the Wa East District have expressed worry over the prevalence of Fulani Herdsmen in the community, saying the menace is thwarting their farming activities. In an interview at the community, the residents who are predominately farmers, say their efforts towards farming were rendered futile by Fulani men and their cattle.

Yellow fever kills 25 people.
The outbreak of the yellow fever disease in the Savannah and Upper West regions has claimed 25 lives, the Ghana Health Service has confirmed. The outbreak which was initially detected in the Savannah region, has now spread to the Wa East district in the Upper West region, two more persons died at the Wenchi Methodist hospital in the Bono Region.

The Management of Disaster authorities hints more damages could occur as more rains are expected in the coming days ,amidst concerns about lack of relief items for those affected.

Wa East; 83% of Adolescent Girls Engages in Sexual Relationship for Sanitary Pad
Research conducted by the Upper West Regional Youth Parliament with funding support from Plan International revealed that 83% of adolescent girls sleep with men to secure monies for basic needs including sanitary pads. The study was on the topic; "Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region: A synthesis of Research Evidence’’.

My schools lack infrastructure - Assembly member cries
The Assembly Member for Bayiri Electoral Area in the Wa East District, Samuel Naa Yendor has bemoaned the poor educational system in his electoral area. He said some schools in the Electoral Area have no classroom blocks which compelled the school children to sit under trees. Mr Yendor who said this in an interview observed that school children are unable to go through effective teaching and learning in the rainy season since schools have to close anytime it threatens to rain. Residents of Guonuo in the Wa East district of the upper west region, have observed that teachers in their community are committed and willing to serve, but lack of electricity and adequate accommodation for such teachers are grave impediments to their commitment and performance.Mr. Abdulai Haris, noted that teachers need do research and prepare their lesson notes, before going into the classroom to teach.
