Some students from the Bono Region belonging to the University of Education Winneba were confirmed dead on their way to school after their bus got involved in a serious accident. The nine students included 7 female students and two others who were males. Over 50 others who were on the bus were conveyed to the nearby hospitals for treatment.
There was an uncontrollable tears all over the funeral grounds as a young man who was a student at the University of Education Winneba was Buried together with a mother and her two years old daughter. The three sadly died in the same accident which occurred few weeks ago involving some UEW students.

According to reports, these students were traveling from Sunyani to Winneba after the UTAG strike had been called off. The "organised bus" in which the students were traveling with had an accident at Asuboi and nine students lost their lives with many of them sustaining serious injuries.

Nine students purported to be students of University of Education, Winneba have been reported dead in a fatal accident in the Eastern Region on Sunday, 13th March 2022. According to eyewitness, the students were on their way to Sunyani when the incident happened. The driver of the school bus is alleged to be sleeping when the traffic light showed red but failed to stop.
